Experience
After completing high school, I enrolled in Pepperdine University and got my bachelor's degree in biology with a focus on ecology and marine biology. Shortly thereafter, I completed a biology master's program at Point Loma Nazarene University, in addition to receiving a California teacher's certification in the same field. Since 2008, I've been working as a science teacher at a private high school, where I've taught subjects like chemistry, life sciences, AP science courses, anatomy, and physiology. I love working as a teacher because it gives me the chance to make a difference in my students' lives. I enjoy being able to teach something as complex as science in a way that's easy to understand and inspires people to learn more. For this reason, I like to hold classroom discussions on topics so that we can talk about the things in science that are interesting and challenging to us. I find that this helps demystify the subject and helps students to see how biology, chemistry, and various other scientific disciplines impact them in their day-to-day lives. Outside of education, I also enjoy swimming, sailing, taking pictures, and traveling. Before becoming a teacher, I spent some time traveling Europe and working as an English language teacher.
