I worked at the American International School in Kuwait, where I have taught several different courses under the International Baccalaureate Programme. I teach all aspects of English and Communication, including language in a cultural context, language and mass media, critical studies in literature, journalism and media studies. In addition, my courses focus on critical thinking, cultural communication and tolerance, intrapersonal communication, all taught in the Socratic method of teaching. In my personal experience, coming from a diverse cultural background and having lived and studied in different parts of the world, allows me to understand the need for sensitivity and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of all students. I address these essential needs on a day to day basis working at an international school. I also understand that it is important to address the way in which we communicate across cultures and the implications of language in different contexts. As an international teacher, I recognize that there are students striving to succeed, yet face many challenges due to their ethnic and social backgrounds. Through my program of studies I promote an environment that celebrates balanced, open-minded, knowledgeable and compassionate students who are inquirers and thinkers. In addition, my continued dedication to my education and professional growth is something I pride myself on. In 2011 I earned my Masters in Education in International and Comparative Education from Lehigh University.
